Paul Fina, PharmD, BCACP, BCPS
Paul Fina is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and the Director for Assessment
at Chicago State University College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Dr. Fina earned
his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Cellular Biology and Chemistry from the
University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from
the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. After graduation, he completed a Community
Pharmacy Residency with Jewel-Osco and Midwestern University College of Pharmacy in
Downers Grove, IL. He worked for Jewel-Osco Pharmacy for several years before pursuing
additional training by completing a second year residency in Medication Use Safety
at the Pharmacy Benefits Management Veterans Affairs Center for Medication Safety.
Dr. Fina’s areas of interest and research include adverse drug event reporting, healthcare
economics, healthcare equity, patient safety, patient outcomes, and the scholarship
of teaching and learning.
Dr. Fina teaches in several classes in the curriculum but his focus is in social and
administrative sciences. These include literature evaluation and evidence based medicine,
pharmacoeconomics, medication use safety, and pharmacy practice management. His administrative
responsibilities as the Director for Assessment and Academic Affairs focus on curriculum
quality assurance and making data driven decisions to support student learning.
